Anlässlich des 140jährigen Jubiläums des Zoologischen Instituts der Universität Rostock fand am 2. Juli 2011 der "Tag der Zoologie" statt. Auf dem Programm standen öffentliche Vorträge, die Eröffnung der neuen Sonderausstellung, Einblicke in die Forschung, Aquarien, Terrarien, Führungen durch die Zoologische Sammlung, 3D-Shows und schließlich ein geselliger Abend mit Bratwurst, Bier und Jazzmusik.
